Patient & The Public-Patient & Public Involvement in Research

'Patient and Public Involvement' is a theme that runs throughout the work of the COMPASS collaborative. We believe that the perspectives and experiences of cancer patients and the public more broadly are essential in shaping the COMPASS research programme and in making our research as effective as it can be. Patient and public involvement can improve recruitment to clinical research, can help ensure that all relevant outcome measures are included in a study, and can ensure effective dissemination of research results to a wider audience of relevant patient and public organisations.

This area of the COMPASS website is designed to assist COMPASS researchers to develop patient and public involvement in their research activities. It provides brief introductions to key aspects of involvement and then signposts researchers to further resources and advice.
